If you live in Arizona and want to get away from the scorching heat, Payson is the place to be. Located only a few hours from Phoenix but the environment reminded me of the northwest region. You can camp, hike or bike around the Mongollon Rim. We stayed up there for one night in the middle of September and the weather at night was around 30-40 degree F, so bring your sleeping bags and blanket, it can get cold up there. I didn’t get to hike very far but was able to drive up pretty close to the Rim and took a few pictures, enjoy!
