Sorry I have been gone for so long! I haven’t had any opportunity to go on trips in the last month. But I am very happy to let you know that I got my first full frame camera – the Canon 6D. I wanted to create random projects for myself so that I would take more pictures with my new camera and wanted my first official project was capturing the beautiful milkyway! I live in Arizona so I decided to make a trip to the beautiful Sedona and camp out. My husband and I packed enough food and drinks for one night camp, loaded up our car and drove up to Sedona. We have talked to a ranger the previous day and found out that campers can’t stay over night at many of the official campground due to the large storms they had lately but he told us that we can still camp at a remote spot about fifteen minutes from the downtown Sedona. Great! We thought to ourselves. We had to drive about fifteen minutes on an unpaved road in Sedona…so mostly rocks or should I say boulders. Going two miles an hour to avoid wrecking our car made the drive seems longer more like one hour than fifteen minutes. When we finally arrive to our camping spot, I regretted our decision to camp out right away. The spot was rocky and we were ill prepared. We also found out that our “remote” spot was a tourist spot. Sedona had companies that offer tours on jeeps and four wheeler, and our camping spot was one of their destinations. It was more than awkward seeing all the tourists taking their pictures next to our tent. They had the nerve to make comments about how they wouldn’t camp out right now since it is hot out. “Whatever!” I thought to myself, they aren’t the ones camping, we are, “I’ll show ‘dem!.” I wanted to be right so I talked myself into thinking this was a good idea and those people didn’t know what they were talking about. So we settle in to our tent, I read my book, my husband listened to his podcast. We waited for the night to fall.

My first plan was to wake up at around three in the morning so I can get the best picture of the milky way but by nine o’clock at night, we could already see so many stars. I jumped out of our tent and start clicking away on my new awesome camera. I will write down the setting for my milkyway picture for those that care: ISO 4000, 30sec, I used the rokinon 14mm f/2.8. I don’t think my picture is the best but that was my first picture of the milkyway and I couldn’t be happier. I just couldn’t believe that I was able to capture something so memorizing and something that I thought I could never do. Our trip did ended up short since I got the thing I came for and didn’t want to sleep on rocks anymore. So we packed our stuff around 10:30pm and left in the dark.

I also took other pictures while we were there and wanted to show it to you. Hopefully you will like them! Enjoy :)!
